i can't believe it's been 6 years since i went to the mtc! eek!

....6 years since i went to the MTC to go on my mission to Temple Square in Salt Lake City. My how time flies!! This last Thursday, October 3rd was the 6 year mark. I started looking at pictures and was feeling super nostalgic so, naturally, I had to blog about it!

With General Conference this weekend and living with a roommate who I served with (laura ostlund the great) I have been thinking a lot about my mission lately. Going on a mission was seriously one of the best decisions I have ever made. I know most everyone says that, but it's because it's true! Growing up, I NEVER thought I'd go on a mission. I wasn't against it or anything, I just thought it wasn't for me. My senior year of college I had an experience where I felt very strongly like I should go...I was a little surprised and resisted the idea at first...but the strong prompting wouldn't stop bothering me until I went! It was a really, really tough decision to go on a mission, but so worth it! So if anyone is reading this and wanting to go on a mission, GO.

I learned so much about myself, about others, about the gospel, and definitely did have a lot of fun and made tons of friends.

I'm really grateful for the examples of my family and especially my parents--they are awesome examples of sacrifice and obedience. I look up to them so much. They are always there to love and support me. I hope to be just like them someday with my children! :)

Here are some pictures and videos of when my mission call came. Everyone put a candy on where they thought I would be called to. My mom actually guessed my mission! She was the only one who even guessed in the US. Mother's intuition! I was so excited. What you can't really tell from the video is I was fighting off bursting into tears with all the emotion of it! I think I hid it pretty well. ;-)

Came in the mail at 10am, had to wait until 7pm to open it. Longest day ever!
Everyone guessing where I would go.
Queuing up cameras and getting everyone on the phone!
Finally opening it!
