Goodbye San Francisco, Hello Utah

This is one of my favorite quotes this year since I have had a lot of change. I really, really do believe that there are great things ahead for all of us as we move forward. We may miss the things we've left behind, but new memories will be made, and new experiences will be had.

With that being said, it's been awhile since I've updated this thing, but I've moved to Utah! I was working for Gymboree in San Francisco and falling in love with living in the city when I received a job offer to work as a designer for Shabby Apple. It was such a tough decision because I loved my job, friends, apartment, and city. But I realized that working for Shabby Apple was the perfect opportunity to do what I love and what I have been wanting to do with my career.

So with a brave heart I left San Francisco to move to Salt Lake City and it has been an adventure! I am still adjusting but so far it's been fun. Luckily Utah Summers are so much fun--hot days, warm nights, hiking, swimming, and tons of outdoorsy things to do! I miss San Francisco a lot--the interesting and quirky people, all the events, nightlife, dancing, pretty sites, my friends and family....i can go on and on....but moving here was definitely the right choice.

Anyway, living in San Francisco, I saw a lot of strange things and met a lot of odd people. I totally miss all of  that--right down to my favorite homeless man. (pictured below) Utah has some odd things about it, but very different than SF. Here's a list of observations I've compiled:

  1. Utah drivers. TERRIBLE. You have no idea how many times I've avoided a car accident / how many times I've seen car accidents.
  2. So many people don't wear helmets when riding their scooters, motorcycles, or bikes. Seriously? They need to reference number 1 on my list.
  3. Girls wear pajamas and basketball shorts out to the grocery store on the regular. I'm all for casual, but at least put on some yoga pants instead. I'm seriously thinking about starting a no basketball shorts campaign. (sorry if this offends anyone, but you need to know there are better options out there!)
  4. On the contrary, big hair and pounds of makeup. 'nuff said.
  5. Lots of babies and kids everywhere you go.
  6. Hiking is the thing to do in the summertime (no complaints here, I love it)
  7. If you see a cute guy at the grocery store or anywhere, he's most likely married. Look for rings.
  8. I know there's more, but I'm tired and my brain is slowing down. ;-)
Anyway, I am really excited about all the adventures to come here in Utah. Change is always good.

I will always cherish the adventures I had in San Francisco. The people I met, the memories I made, and the hard times that helped me grow.

Here are some pictures of some of my favorite times in SF and the latest here in UT.
