yesterday i called my client fat...

...it was an accident! I actually had meant to say fit! Luckily it was a guy and he was quite hilarious and we both just started laughing at my mix up of words. Yesterday was pretty busy but mostly I was just tired from the week and just wanted to go home and eat, so this kind of brought some humor to my day. I was just contemplating on my way home how sometimes when I get really busy, etc. sometime I forget to just have fun and laugh and make light of situations. I'm not horrible about it, but definitely something I would like to improve on. Sister Hinckley said that President Gordon B. Hinckley's positive and happy attitude got them through difficult trials in their lives. Life was not always easy, but he was able to find joy, humor, and a positive outlook on it all. I really look up to that and believe that if you have the right attitude you will be so much happier and enjoy life more. You will be able to endure hard times better and burn some calories laughing! ;-)

Anyway, this week was hectic. As mom commented on my previous blog, that this is a nice way to know what's going on with my life! Kind of sad, but true! I feel like sometimes I'm only at home to sleep! Work and school are definitely keeping me busy. It's good though. I like to be busy.

I have a new goal of not procrastinating! Thursday night I worked until about 11 pm. Got home around 11:30...kind of dilly-dallied....then realized I better finish my homework! I tried to do it earlier in the day and did some, but it was my mom's birthday and we went to lunch! Well worth it. Family first! Anyway, I stayed up until about 2:30 am and had to wake up at 6 am. I still had a lot of reading to do so I did some speed reading on BART and then on my lunch break. It all worked out okay, but I was pooped that day! My afternoon teacher is very soft spoken and has a monotone voice, so I was struggling! I took a nice nap on BART though.

In other exciting news, mom had a birthday! I forgot to post these last week, but she had a little trip to the urgent care last week--way to start off the new year right! ;-) hehe, she was joking about this and so we had to take some pictures. She is okay now by the way!

With all the work and school I'm managing time for play...here's a picture from my friend Willy's goodbye party last night!

first day of school!

So as I am using this blog kind of like a journal, I have to write about my first official school day at FIDM! I LOVED it!!! I just felt so happy the whole day! I worked late Thursday night and was so excited for school the next day, I couldn't sleep right away! I woke up early to make sure I would get on BART ontime. So, I was pretty sleepy, but excited. As soon as I settled onto BART, turned my i-pod on, closed my eyes, I was out cold. The next thing I knew I woke up b/c they guy next to me got up. I thought we were at Embarcadero station and I almost didn't even look out the window to make sure because I was still in sleepy/groggy mode. Luckily I did and saw that it was Powell! I jumped off and ran off the train! I couldn't believe I was so close to missing my stop! How horrible and embarrassing would that have been! haha...anyway, I was still pretty groggy but went up to class. I made friends with some of the girls in my program during orientation and so it was nice to have familiar faces in class. I went to Textile Science first. Cory was joking about this class the day before and asked if we were going to put fabric in test tubes and burn them or something. We had a good laugh about that actually. I laughed out loud when my teacher informed us that we will be burning fabric! haha...I wish Cory had been there to join in on that moment.

My second class was Marketing and Brand Development. I enjoyed it but am a little worried about my instructor's monotone and soft spoken voice in a Friday afternoon class. I was getting pretty sleepy. It was good though. Tomorrow I have 2 classes--Product Development Fundamentals and Apparel Processes I. Exciting! I can tell I'm going to be super busy with homework and class and work, but it will be worth it! And it should be fun too. If it isn't fun, then I'm doing something wrong.

In other news, I finally got one of my clients to do a squat properly...still working on his wife to be able to do a crunch. In her mind, the surgery she had a year ago--a tummy tuck--is preventing her from doing too much exercise. hehehe...she's getting better though...slowly but surely. ;-)

wayne, you were right

So about months ago I went on a candy and coke run to Walgreens. I was approached by an older black man named Wayne who started hitting on me. The experience was all pretty humerous as he attempted to get my name and number. I told him that I have a boyfriend and wasn't interested. He told me that he better treat me like a princess and think the world of me, and if he doesn't, come back to him. He said he's love to sign up for a chance! He reached out to what I thought was going to be a handshake, but he kissed my hand! Luckily I had hand sanitizer and then ran home and washed my hand for a good 5 minutes! hahaha...I was laughing pretty hard, but decided not to back to Walgreens alone. The funny thing is that I'd seen him before when I was there with my boyfriend at the time and he kept checking me out and making sounds like "mhhhmmmm", etc. I was really creeped out actually.

Hehe...well, after some thought and reminicing of that experience I realized how right Wayne was. Everyone should be with someone who thinks the world of them and treats them like a princess...or prince ;). I went to Disney on Ice: Princess classics a few months back and realized my childhood thoughts about love came back. Every little girl dreams of a fairytale type love, but through the years of dating, breaking hearts and getting my heart broken, seeing other people's dating or marriage experiences it's hard to keep that same perspective on love. But really, I think that The Little Mermaid and Eric had a good thing going on right? Deep down inside I'm a hopeless romantic. I gain so much satisfaction in matchmaking my friends together, etc. I love love. I must admit I have a crush on Pam and Jim from the office. Just on their relationship all together. I know I'm not alone in this, right? They're like the best couple on TV.

Anyway, that's my random 2 cents on that!

i love it when you know that what you're doing is the right thing

So as you gathered from my last post, I decided to go back to school. I felt really good and excited about this when I was deciding if I should really do this. It is a huge investment (money wise) and time wise too. Should I really do this or continue looking for a job and save money? It was quite the decision. I put a lot of thought and prayer into it. I visited the campus and was a little nervous because before my mission I had actually been contemplating doing this, and visited a school and felt horrible about it. Obviously because I needed to go on my mission. Nonetheless, I was nervous I would get that same feeling this time around as I visited FIDM. I went and met with the advisor and everything was sounding SO perfect! You couldn't wipe the smile off my face that day. I felt really good about the decision to attend FIDM. But, I guess good things most never come easy. There were a few setbacks that really made me wonder if this was right to do. I mean, it's a pretty expensive mistake to make. But, I just decided to move forward and stick to the plan praying to know if this is right and if it isn't please stop me!

Yesterday I went to orientation. We met a lot of the staff and as one of them was speaking I just got chills all over and felt so clearly that this was exactly where I was supposed to be. It was really cool. I've had a few other experiences like that in my life--not many as clear and certain as this. There's nothing quite like it. I love it. I am just grateful for prayer and for the Spirit and that we can truly ask and receive.

Anyway, I really know that for some reason or another, this is what I'm supposed to be doing. I felt very inspired to go back to school on my mission and I was like, really? Why? I didn't know exactly what for. I kind of forgot about after looking into MBA programs and that not feeling right. Then the idea came into my mind to go to FIDM. Maybe I can design sister missionary clothes! HAH!

new year, new things...like a blog!

Well, I gave in a created a blog! I figure this will make up for my slack on journal writing. We'll see how this goes!

2009 was a great year with the usual ups and downs, but overall fabulous. I finished off my mission in March. Came home and had to start making some life decisions! (not very fun!) I studied during the summer and became a certified personal trainer and am currently doing that at Club Sport. I participated in a 1/2 marathon training group and ran my first 1/2 marathon in San Francisco and did really well! I plan on doing more this year--1/2's, full, and also triathalons! I'm excited.

I also have decided to fulfill one of my life dreams--I'm going back to school, fashion school! Totally excited for it! This really has been a dream of mine for a very long time...it all started as soon as I was old enough to dress myself...I was pretty stubborn and wouldn’t let my mom dress me. She was embarrassed actually as she would drop me off at Tiny Tots and my hair would have a million multi-colored clips in it and my outfit also multi-colored and probably mismatched and looking like, as my older brother commented, Cindy Lauper. (In my defense, it was the 80s.) I wasn’t wearing perfect pigtails and a pink dress like all the other little girls. My mom would be going to the store and all my siblings would yell as she was going out the door, “Get me candy!” or “Buy me cookies!” However, I would say “Get me a purple pantsuit!” Taking me shopping was another chore for my mom as she’d often lose me in a rack of clothing, half-undressed trying stuff on. Maybe she thought my obsession with clothes was a phase, but it has lasted. As years went on I began doodling and designing clothes. I learned (kinda) how to sew and attempted to make clothes--sometimes successful, sometimes not ;-). But, nonetheless, fashion has always been an interest of mine. So, I am super syked to start school!

Anyway, I am grateful for this opportunity to do what I've always wanted to do. This is gonna be a good year...I know everyone says that at the beginning of the year and it seems that by the end they can't wait for the next year to come, but I think last year was great, and this year's gonna be great too! Well, here's my first blog entry. More to come!
